Expand allEpilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU)
Our Six Bed Epilepsy Unit provides 24 hour EEG and video monitoring over 3-5 days for:
- Pre-surgical workup for VNS and neurosurgery
- Identification of non-epileptic seizures
- Evaluation of anti-epileptic medication regimen
- Characterization of seizures
- Localizing origin of seizures

Expand all6A Adult Medicine
6A is a 24-bed general Medicine Unit located on the 6th floor of the north wing at Upstate University Hospital downtown campus. This unit provides care to patients with acute medical conditions and multiple co-morbidities, with a focus on pulmonary diseases and cardiovascular disorders. The unit has the capacity for caring up to three ventilated patients and also has the capability to monitor up to 12 telemetry patients. All 6A staff are cross trained to the 7U secure unit and move between the two units.
6B Adult Medicine
6B is a 24-bed adult inpatient unit, located on the 6th floor of the north wing of Upstate University Hospital downtown campus. The unit specializes in the care of adult medical patients who require treatment in an acute care setting. The unit also has the capacity to monitor patients with telemetry on 12 beds.
6K Adult Medicine
6K is a 16 bed inpatient, acute general medicine floor, located on the 6th floor in the East Wing of Upstate University Hospital downtown campus. 6K has telemetry capability-each room has a bedside monitor with hard wired cardiac monitors, which is utilized for telemetry.
